It’s time to get all mysterious in our latest writing competition and to become inspired by this wonderful photo. If you fancy winning up to £500 for your efforts, we are looking for a cleverly crafted plot that teases the senses and draws us ever-deeper into the plot. You have a maximum of 2000 words including the title – feel free to come up with a compelling title of your own.

Here’s the rules:

Must be written in English

Must be original and previously unpublished

Maximum word count: 2000 including the title

Multiple submissions are welcome providing the correct entry fees are paid

We welcome imaginative interpretations of the theme but your story must be inspired by the photo

All submissions should be pasted into the body of the email and sent to: [email protected]
