This competition must be set in December 2009 and have your central characters looking back at an event or events that happened during 2009. Use personal experiences or pure imagination, just ensure your story is vividly written and captures the elements of strong characterisation and detailed plot.
Maximum word count is 2000 but please submit your story in Times New Roman, font size 12

Your story must revolve around being marooned through a shipwreck and at least one of those others who are also stranded must be someone that your character does not like, so make sure you add conflict to the plot. What happens in your story is entirely up to you but please submit to us by email and ensure that the story is written in font Times New Roman- font size 12.

Love conjures up a mixture of emotions and jealousy can be one of the most powerful- destroying a relationship or perhaps making those involved realise the extent of their feelings.

Imagine that you are caught in the midst of a story or are simply watching a winter storm from a safe haven.
Try to visualise the elements, the sensations experienced and write a descriptive passage (maximum 200 words) about the storm.
Note this is not a story, just pure description about the storm itself. Be as descriptive as possible so that the reader feels part of the scene.
Must be original and previously unpublished. Entry to the competition implies acceptance to publication if chosen as the winning entry.
