For this writing competition, you have up to 800 words to draw us into your story and to deliver an enticing tale about a painting that has been found and then, to create and reveal the mystery that follows. As always, we are open to creative interpretation and your story can be amusing or serious. We just want to believe it. So, consider who is this girl? Who painted her? What is their story? With only 800 words, you must start your story at just the right point so to create a compelling plot.
Note: You do not need to use the photo.

Submissions must be original and previously unpublished
Submissions must adhere to the word count. 800 words maximum including the title – which must be The Girl in the Painting
Submissions must be in English
Submissions are welcome from writers worldwide but writers must be aged 18 and over to win a cash prize
Stories must be pasted into the body of the email. Please do not send attachments.
