This writing competition is all about a door and our opening line:
The door was locked. Now what was she going to do?
This must form the first sentence and it’s your job to continue the story through to completion. Take a look at the photo of the door above or, write about a completely different door and building. What happens in your story is entirely up to you – it can be mysterious, romantic, dangerous or, in fact, anything you like but you only have a maximum of 600 words including the open line and the title The Locked Door.

We welcome imaginative interpretations of the theme
We will judge, award and publish the results within 12-16 weeks. Entry implies acceptance to these rules.
