Feeling a little creative? Why not enter our brand new Descriptive Fiction Writing Competition? To be in with a chance of winning, create a short story that is beautifully descriptive. You don’t need to use the photo depicted here unless you wish to but do ensure that your story has strong descriptive elements throughout. You have just 1000 words or less. Your story must also be unique and previously unpublished.
Note: We are still looking for a complete story but you must bring it to life and paint vibrant scenes with words. Follow the rules carefully and you could be one of our proud winners.
Rules:
You must be aged 18 or over
Open to writers worldwide
Maximum word count is 1000 including the title
You may enter multiple submissions providing the correct fees are paid
You must enter on or before the closing date
Submissions must be written in English
We welcome imaginative interpretations of the theme
Submissions must be added to the body of the email (unless otherwise specified) and sent to: [email protected]
Please mark the email subject line with the name of the competition i.e. Descriptive Fiction April 2016
If you are a Write, Learn and Publish member, you are entitled to enter for free, please mark the subject line with your membership number.
Payment must be made via PayPal. Please add the PayPal transaction reference number (given once payment is made) to your email. Alternatively, please include the PayPal email associated with the payment as this helps us to speed up the process.
Please note that we only publish the overall winning submission as this enables all other submissions to be submitted elsewhere. Copyright remains with the author.
We allow 12 weeks from the competition closing date to award, announce and publish the winning entry.
