If you have never tried acrostic poetry before, then this is your chance to experiment with your creative skills and to expore additional techniques in the world of poetry.  In acrostic poetry, each letter of the title is used in order as the first letter of each sentence and this means that the title is also written vertically down the side from top to bottom. If you are not sure quite what to do, check out the example on this site here.

Write your poem in a maximum of 20 lines.

Your poem must be original and previously unpublished.

Submissions must be written in English.

Your submission must arrive on or before the closing date.

Please email your poem to: [email protected] and mark Acrostic Poetry Competition in the subject field.

From 2013, we judge, award and publish the results within 12 weeks from the closing date.
