All you have to do to win this exciting new writing competition is to create a story about a surprise present and to make it even harder, this present has been left on the front doorstep. Who the present is for and why it has been left there is up to you. You have a maximum of 1200 words including the title.

Consider your starting point carefully to maximise the strength of your story. We want to be hooked by every word.

Rules:

Your submission must be written in English.

It must be original and previously unpublished.

Open to writers worldwide.

Maximum 1200 words – including the title

Multiple submissions are welcome providing the correct fees are paid.

Submissions should be pasted into the body of the email rather than sending as an attachment.

Send your submission to info@creative-competitor.co.uk and mark the name of the competition in the subject line.

Write, Learn and Publish members should adhere to the above rules but email their submission directly to us adding the competition name and membership number to the subject line.

Please make your payment below and send the PayPal confirmation or name relating to the PayPal account in the email so that we can cross-match payment and submission. This helps us to speed up the process.

Please note: From 2015, our writing competitions are judged, awarded and announced within 11 weeks from the closing date. We only ever publish the overall winning submission on this website to allow writers to submit their entry elsewhere. The Creative Competitor does reserve the right to publish the winning entry on this site, newsletter and in any anthology.

Writers who receive runners-up prizes may be contacted by the Creative Competitor team to request permission to have their submission included in an anthology – but we do not reserve the right to publish without permission. Where permission is granted, an additional payment will be offered.

Entry into this competition implies acceptance to these rules.
